ಒಳಿತೆಂದು ಸೊಗಸೆಂದು ಜಗವು ಮೆಚ್ಚುವುದೆಲ್ಲ |
ಕಲೆ ಕಣಂಗಳು ಮಾತ್ರ ಪೂರ್ಣಂಗಳಲ್ಲ ||
ನಲಿವು ಚೆಲುವುಗಳ ಪರಿಪೂರ್ಣ ಮೂಲಾಕೃತಿಯೆ |
ಪರಬೊಮ್ಮನೆನ್ನುವರು - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ||

oLitendu sogasendu jagavu meccuvudella |
kale kaNangaLu maatra pUrNangalalla ||
nalivu celuvugaLa paripUrNa mUlakrutiye |
parabommanennuvaru - mankutimma ||

What the world admires as good and beautiful
That art is a part only and not the whole.
The immaculate source of all joy and beauty
Is called Parabrahma* - Mankutimma.

*Parabrahma - Originally a Vedantic conception. Varied interpretations exist on its meaning. In the context of the quatrain, I suppose it means 'Supreme consciousness'.
