ಕುದಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚೆ ವೆಗಟಹುದು; ಕಡಿಮೆಯಿರೆ ಹಸಿನಾತ | 
ಕದಡಲೊಡೆವುದು ಹಾಲು; ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮವದರ ಹದ || 
ಅದರವೊಲೆ ಮನದ ಹದ, ಅಡನೆಚ್ಚರದಿ ನೋಡು | 
ಬದುಕು ಸೊಗ ಹದದಿಂದ - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ || 

kudi hecche vegaTahudu; kaDimeyire hasinaata |
kadaDaloDevudu haalu; sukshmavadara hada ||
adaravole manada hada, adaneccharadi noDu |
baduku soga hadadinda - mankutimma ||

Excess of heat ruins taste; less leads to raw stink 
If disturbed milk is curdled; subtle its balance. 
So is the balance of mind, observe it carefully 
Balance beautifies life - Mankutimma.

ಜ್ಞಾನ ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ತಾಪ ಶುಭಚಿಂತೆಯಂತೆ ||
ಏನೊ ವಾಸನೆ ಬೀಸಲದು ಹಾರಿ ದುಮುಕುವುದು |
ಮಾನವನ ಮನಸಂತು - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ||

shvaana tippeya mEle malagiralu pUrvika- |
jnaana pashcaattaapa shubhacinteyante ||
Eno vaasane bIsaladu haari dumukuvudu |
maanavana manasantu - mankutimma ||

A dog lying on garbage pile may contemplate the wisdom
Of ancestors, or repent or entertain aesthetic thoughts!
But as soon as it senses some smell, it leaps and jumps.
Thus is the human mind too - Mankutimma.

mOkSha svatassiddha - mankutimma ||

In the pursuit of salvation, extreme haste is imprudent.
No salvation unless a lot of suffering is undergone. 
Without losing sight of goal, follow simple dharma,
Salvation is bound to be attained - Mankutimma
