ಅಷ್ಟದಿಗ್ಗಜವೆ ನೀನ್? ಆದಿಶೇಷನೆ ನೀನು? |
ಕಷ್ಟಭಾರವಿದೆಂದು ನಿಟ್ಟುಸಿರ ಬಿಡುವೆ! ||
ನಿಷ್ಠುರದ ನಿನ್ನ ಕನಿಕರ ಜಗಕೆ ಬೇಕಿಲ್ಲ |
ಎಷ್ಟಾದರಷ್ಟೆ ಸರಿ - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ||

aShTadiggajave nIn? aadishEShane nInu? |
kaShTabhaaravidendu niTTusira biDuve! ||
niShTurada ninna kaninkara jagake bEkilla |
eShTaadaraShTe sari - mankutimma ||

Are thou the Ashtadiggajas? Are thou Aadishesha?
You sigh lamenting that it is a difficult burden.
The world needs not any of thy bitter mercy,
Whatever is possible is fine - Mankutimma

Dressed like a King, will thou forget mustache?
As a beggar will thou flaunt a mustache?
Exists to each, the right conduct of every place.
Realize, as the changing seasons - Mankutimma.
