ದಾಸರೋ ನಾವೆಲ್ಲ ಶುನಕನಂದದಿ ಜಗದ |
ವಾಸನೆಗಳೆಳೆತಕ್ಕೆ ದಿಕ್ಕುದಿಕ್ಕಿನಲಿ ||
ಪಾಶಗಳು ಹೊರಗೆ, ಕೊಂಡಿಗಳು ನಮ್ಮೊಳಗಿಹುವು |
ವಾಸನಾಕ್ಷಯ ಮೋಕ್ಷ - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ||

daasrO naavella shunakanandadi jagada |
vaasanegaLeLetakke dikkudikkinali ||
paashagaLu horage, konDigaLu nammoLagihuvu |
vaasanaakshaya mOksha - mankutimma ||

Servants are we; Like dogs in this world
Attracted by temptations in all directions.
Traps are outside, but the hooks within us.
Freedom from desires is salvation - Mankutimma

Body and soul are the two organs of life
Better if in friendship, they complement each other.
