ಹರಡುವುದು ಸಾಜ ವಾಯುಗೆ ಸೈಸದದು ತಡೆಯನ್ |
ಉರುಳಿಪುದದೆಲ್ಲವನು ತಡೆಗಳಿಲ್ಲದಿರೆ ||
ನರನ ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರಗತಿಯಂತು ಹಿತಮಿತವಿರಲು |
ಅರಸೊ ಮಿತಿಯಾಯತಿಯ - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ||

haraDuvudu saaja vaayuge saisadadu taDeyan |
uruLipudadellavanu taDegaLilladire ||
narana svatantragatiyantu hitamitaviralu |
araso mitiyaayatiya - mankutimma ||

Natural for wind to spread, tolerates not obstructions. 
If no obstacles, it uproots all that comes in its way.
Individual freedom too should have checks and balances.

esalinaDi giDada bigi; mele gaaLiya sarasa |
kusumada kShemavaa bigita biDutegaLim ||
kushala sourabhava niryatna svatantradim |
pasaripaa naya sukhavo - mnkutimma ||

Held tight below the petals; Above playful with free air,
Well being of the flower in those bonding and freedom.
To disperse this welfare fragrance in effortless ease,
That refinement is happiness - Mankutimma.

In the pond of his own sweat, who drowns and raises
And considers himself privileged is one free man.
To be free to get down and melt at the pilgrim shrine
